The JFL Shorts program, presented by Just For Laughs in partnership with Will Arnett's Electric Avenue, is a global discovery platform for emerging comedic storytellers, showcasing outstanding short works from around the world.
The program shines a spotlight on some of the boldest, sharpest, and most original comedic voices in cinema today, offering a carefully curated mix of live-action, animated, scripted, and unscripted productions.
From hilarious independent shorts to original works with clear creative potential, JFL Shorts celebrates comedy in all its forms while introducing new talent to the professional audience of ComedyPRO.
Each screening will be followed by a presentation from the creators, with one short receiving a special award within the selection, in addition to an audience choice award.

Aba Amuquandoh writes and performs with the Canadian Screen Award winning cast of This Hour Has 22 Minutes on CBC, as the youngest featured player and first Black femme cast member.
She is also the host of CBC's binge-worthy show, Best in Miniature. Aba was featured in The Star, Q with Tom Power, and Las Culturistas I Don’t Think So Honey among many others.
She has hosted the Juno Awards Gala alongside Damhnait Doyle and is the former co-host of Nostalgique with Ben Sosa Wright, which was ranked at number two amongst the top five funniest podcasts in the Toronto Star.

She was a Writer and Producer for all 3 seasons of Run The Burbs and became its Co-Showrunner in its finale season. She most recently served as Co-Showrunner on season 3 of Late Bloomer.
In 2021, she earned a Canadian Screen Award for Best Writing, Variety or Sketch Comedy for Baroness. In 2022, she was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award as a Best Supporting Actor on a Web Series for her performance in Avocado Toast. For her work on the premier season of Sort Of, Nelu received a Writer’s Guild of Canada nomination for her script, in addition to a prestigious Peabody Award for her contribution.

A southwest Michigan native, Parker earned her degree in screenwriting from the University of Michigan before beginning her career as a writers’ assistant on Loiter Squad and working with Spike Jonze on Her and Bad Grandpa.
Shifting from writing to creative development, she rose the ranks at Comedy Central, ultimately serving as Director of Development and leading initiatives like ViewFinder and the network’s internship program. Known for her commitment to mentorship and amplifying underrepresented voices, Parker now continues that work at Hulu and ABC, blending industry insight with a passion for bold, creator-driven storytelling.
