Co-Creator, Executive Producer
Mark Levin & Jennifer Flackett are that rare Hollywood creature: The husband-wife writer-director-producer team. They have been screenwriters, producers and directors in both television and film for twenty-five years.
Netflix’s BIG MOUTH, which they co-created and executive produce, is entering its third season on Netflix. BIG MOUTH stars Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jenny Slate, Fred Armisen, Jordan Peele and Maya Rudolph.
Levin & Flackett’s feature film careers began when their first screenplay, DRIVE, was purchased by Scott Rudin and Paramount Pictures. They subsequently adapted the classic children’s book MADELINE into the motion picture starring Frances McDormand. They also wrote the romantic comedy WIMBLEDON for Working Title Films and Universal Pictures. Other movies they have contributed to as screenwriters include THE PERFECT STORM, SPEED RACER, and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3-D. Their 2012 Blacklisted script OUR NAME IS ADAM is slated for production at Paramount Studios with Tom Cruise attached to star.
The first film that Levin & Flackett directed was LITTLE MANHATTAN, a romantic comedy about first love, based on their original screenplay. It was released by New Regency and Twentieth Century Fox in 2005. NIM’S ISLAND, the 2008 Fox-Walden release starring Jodie Foster and Gerard Butler, was Levin & Flackett’s second movie as film directors.
In television, Levin & Flackett began their writing careers on iconic shows like THE WONDER YEARS and LA LAW, and have written and produced pilots for HBO, Comedy Central, and all the major networks, including ABC’s ROADIE, CBS’s THE MYSTERIES OF 71ST STREET, Fox’s THE THIRD DEGREE, and ABC’s BORN IN BROOKLYN.
Levin & Flackett conceived the initial idea for THE APOTHECARY and shared it with their friend Maile Meloy, who turned it into a critically-acclaimed and best-selling trilogy.
