Seth Rogen and Howie Mandel in Montréal for Special Film Screenings from July 27th to 30th

Montréal, PQ [July 18, 2016] – Film star Seth Rogen and comedian Howie Mandel will be in Montréal to take part in the Just For Laughs 2016 Film Series presented by the Telefilm Canada Feature Comedy Exchange, in association with the Canadian Film Centre (CFC) and JFL during the The Just For Laughs Festival, presented by Videotron in association with Loto-Québec.

Seth Rogen returns to Just For Laughs for a special screening of the much-anticipated movie Sausage Party, the first ever R-rated CG animated film. The film features the vocal talents of a who’s who of today’s comedy stars: Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton and Salma Hayek. Sausage Party is directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, with a screenplay by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir, and a story by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Jonah Hill. The producers are Megan Ellison, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Conrad Vernon.

Known around the world as a judge on America’s Got TalentHowie Mandel will present his documentary, Committed, to Montrealers on July 28 at Cinéma du Parc. In addition to attending the screening, Howie and star of the film, Vic Cohen, will answer questions from the audience at the end of the evening.

These are two of the highlights of this year’s Just For Laughs 2016 Film Series, where comedians and comedy stars come to present their films. Here is a sneak peek at the films slated to be showcased at this year’s festival.

At the Impérial Cinema: 
Sausage Party – Special Screening
This adult animation tells the story of a sausage who leads a group of supermarket products on a quest to discover the truth about their existence and what really happens when they are chosen to leave the grocery store. Sausage Party will be released in North America on Friday August 12. (Saturday, July 30, at 8:30 p.m.)

At Cinéma du Parc:
Tickling Giants – Canadian Premiere
A documentary about comedian Bassem Youssef, the former heart surgeon behind the satirical weekly program Al Bernameg. The “Egyptian Jon Stewart” and his team have endured controversy, protests, physical threat and legal action — all because of jokes. The film’s director, Sarah Taksler, will be in attendance. (Wednesday, July 27, at 9:15 p.m.)

Eat My Shorts presented by Shaftesbury/Smokebomb
A selection of some of the best short films from around the world, including: Don’t Hug Me I Am Scared 1-6, The Timmy Brothers – Water Makers, Never Happened, How with Peter, Symphonie No. 42, Edmond, Fired on Mars, Glove, Metube II: August Sings Carmina Burana, That Dog and Jason Reitman’s Roast Battle. (Thursday, July 28, at 7 p.m.)

A Howie Mandel production, this documentary spans 14 years in the life of Vic Cohen. Presenting his courageous and passionate career in show business, Committed reveals a man with such passion and drive that nothing could get in the way of his dream of becoming a star. (Thursday, July 28, at 9:15 p.m.)

The Comedian’s Guide to Survival – Exclusive Preview
When his stand-up comic career sours, James Mullinger sets off to meet a plethora of well-known comedians (including Mike Ward, Jimmy Carr and Gilbert Gottfried, playing themselves), who set him on the path to redemption and success. A Q&A featuring James Mullinger, Mike Ward and director Mark Murphy to follow. (Friday, July 29, at 7 p.m.)

A selection of some of the best French-language short films from around the world: Et après?, Metube II: August sings Carmina Burana, La notion d’erreur, Edmond, Never Happened, L’heure du thé, La voce, Plutôt crever que mourir ici and Symphonie No.42. (Friday, July 29, at 9:15 p.m.)

Del Close was never a household name, but any comedy enthusiast is aware of his impact. From Bill Murray to Chris Farley to Amy Poehler, many of the most famous comedians consider him their mentor. Fifteen years after Del Close’s death, thousands of Improv students, comedy fans, actors, and successful comedians gather to celebrate the most important person in modern comedy that no one knows.
