This year brought in a wide range of submissions. Musicals, motherhood, and party girls… serial dating, a rapper entrepreneur and an animated mis-fit demonstrate the diversity of the current comedy landscape. The art of stand-up is also represented in the work of anxiety-ridden comic, Kyle Radke, as well as an ‘only in Brooklyn’ traveling open-mic show recently profiled in The New York Times.
“Just For Laughs ComedyPRO is THE best place to pitch to comedy executives who are actually the decision-makers in TV and online, says ComedyPRO’s Paul Ronca. “Several of our past pitches are now in production and that’s the most gratifying proof of the program’s success.”
From Set to Screen: The TV Comedy Search takes place Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10 am. Pitch ‘Til Your Sides Split: Web Series Pitch Program is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 1 pm. Both events take place at the Hyatt Regency Montreal.
Confirmed panelists for The TV Comedy Search include: Brian Hunt, Head of Creative Development, Original Video, Yahoo; Dan Pasternack, Vice President of Development and Production, IFC and Jeff Meyerson, Director, Comedy Development, FOX Broadcasting Company. Moderator is Terence Gray, Founder and Executive Director of the New York Television Festival (NYTVF).

Each pair of finalists will have 5 minutes to pitch their project. The winner of The TV Comedy Search will attend the 2014 New York Television Festival as an ‘Official Artist’ while the winner of the Web Series Pitch will receive a full-year membership in the IAWTV as well as a pair of tickets to the 2015 IAWTV Awards, held in conjunction with CES in Las Vegas.
At the close of the Web Series pitch session, the panelists will convene behind closed doors and select one winner to receive an option agreement from Defy Media to jointly develop the winning project — or an alternative project mutually determined by the winner and Defy Media during the period of the option agreement.
