Deputy Awards and Features Editor

Jenelle Riley is the Deputy Awards and Features Editor at Variety, where she has penned cover stories on personalities like Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio and oversees the popular screening series and Awards Studio. She has received two Emmy Awards for her work as host and producer on PBS’ “Actors on Actors” and frequently moderates SAG Foundation’s Career Conversations Q&As where she has sat down with everyone from Brad Pitt to Jessica Chastain.

An award-winning playwright and director, who recently landed a best director prize from the L.A. Weekly Theatre Awards in for her acclaimed comedy “A Kind of Love Story.” Her short film “Warning Labels,” directed by Jennifer Morrison (star of “House” and “Once Upon a Time”) premiered at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival. “A Kind of Love Story” premiered at the Sacred Fools Theatre in Los Angeles in 2012 to universal raves from critics. Stephen Chbosky (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”) called it “laugh-out-loud funny” and it has gone on to acclaimed productions in Minnesota and London. She recently completed a screenplay adaptation of the play. Other plays include “Comfortably Numb” and “Heart Murmurs and Brain Matter” She is also the writer of the award-winning short film “Crazy Love” and the films “The Perfect Candidate” and “The Swap.”
